The weekend - trip to Benalmadena

Right well, a quick update on the weekend. I ended up going to Benalmadena this weekend. I managed to negotiate my way through Spain on the buses, (not that difficult really once you get started). It was about a 2 hour journey all in all and is quite picturesque as it takes you mainly along the coastal roads.

Jasbir and I had a chance to catch up and spend some time together which was good and I got to see where she is working. Benalmadena is quite nice although she is set further back from the beach than me here. We had a good time exploring and I will post some pictures with comments so that you can see. Saturday we had a quiet day mainly but did find a fabulous cake/pastries shop so we treated ourselves for afternoon tea!!

Sunday we certainly explored Benalmadena and walked up and down the streets. We went to try and go on the cable car which appears to take you up the mountain, however it was closed... we think due to bad weather...So much for sunny Spain..!! From there we walked down to find the Hindu temple in Benalmadena (yes, I was very surprised there was a Hindu temple there) we were both interested to have a look and so we headed off and found it, but that was also closed...!!! After this we walked back through the parque de paloma (Park of pidgeons/doves!) to find lots of animals in the park... chickens, rabbits, peacocks all wandering freely along with ostriches and goats in pens, it appeared this was the family outing for a Sunday to come and feed the rabbits in the park - bit different to feeding the ducks!!.

Funny story...... We picked up a flyer whilst at the cable car, which was in Spanish. Once back at her apartment I decided I should translate it to see what it was about... Painstakingly I did so and just about made sense of it, only to turn it over and find on the other side it was in English - bloomin typical!! However good news was I was almost right!!!

However we were both disappointed by the weather as I believe you all in the UK had better weather than we did here (hotter at least!!). Today again has been very cloudy like a grey English day - that was not what I/we signed up for when we said we would come to Spain!!!!

Traveled back on the bus and had my first experience of Spanish road rage..!! Firstly we had to change buses as there was a problem with the first bus we were on (although I didnt understand what the problem was) then the bus driver tried to pull out into traffic and nearly hit another car that was determined not to stop...!! Somethings are obviously similar no matter which country you come from or which language as this was followed by some obvious expletives....!!!!

Anyway arrived back in Puerto Banus at about 4pm in time to chill out and organise myself for the following day.... Oh and to find SOME of my laundry returned to my room - hurrah....!!!
