Week 6 Summary…..

Words this week; venga (to come) necessito (necessary) caballa (mackerel) digame (can I help you!)

Good things this week;
I am now able and trusted to be working independently around Sanyres, whilst this is good it also means I am doing more things, and so am busier than ever before (if that is possible!!).

The sun has had its hat on all week pretty much which has been great as it really does suit me better than grey skies and makes things all well with the world..!! So, more groups on the terrace and walks along the beach in the evenings I even ventured on Friday back to the cocktail bar for a small drink whilst reading the Times and watching the sun set..!!

We took some of the residents to the beach this week for a stretching class which was quite fun. Two of them made it as far as the beach bar and no further (although I hasten to add the most that was consumed was an orange juice and a coffee!!). The rest of us went to the public exercise equipment on the maritime passage. This looks a bit like childrens play equipment but is actually functional outdoor exercise equipment for public use – a brilliant idea which means you can exercise overlooking the sea!! They are springing up all along the maritime passage between Estepona and Marbella.

This week has been very busy for other reasons that the staff here have been offering to show us (Jasbir and I) around the Costa Del Sol. This has involved some careful negotiations with the relevant members of staff so as not to offend anyone but it is great as is giving is opportunities to see other places. I eagerly await the weekend and the adventures that may bring…

Frustrating times…
Realising or increased frustration that to get anywhere within Spain from here is a bit of a mission. The public transport links to Puerto Banus are not good to say the least. Some of you will know how I get frustrated with the public transport into and out of Uxbridge however I think here it is worse although it doesn’t bother me too much as I do not have too many pressures on my time.

I continue to attend the meetings in Spanish which thankfully are relatively short. However my understanding of the issues still varies; and I am rarely able to get a word in edgewise or contribute. Partly due to my lack of Spanish and being able to think quickly enough and also the rate & volume at which the Spanish talk..!

Being all too aware that my time here is running out and I will soon be returning to the UK and say Adios to all here and to Spain. There are still many things and places I would like to do here and so find this a bit frustrating. All in all it has meant a period of pondering primarily of what the future may hold – but as always there are no answers … time will tell…!!
Discovering a resident has declined more than people here realised due to others compensating around them and the realisation of this for the family too. I have found this all very sad, and been quite involved as they are English speaking residents.

Things to look forward to…
Meeting with Jasbir and the psychologist from work who is keen to show us Fuengirola and a place called Mijas...on Saturday.

Sunday we (Jasbir and I) are potentially planning a bit of a day out but we need to decide where and how…!!
