Remember last weekend, I sent my dirty washing to the laundry here to be done… Well, I got some of it back last weekend….!! However I was still missing my green jumper as this was wool I knew they had said it would take longer as it cant go in the main washing machine… I thought it was due back on Monday. Being somewhat patient I had waited til today until I raised the issue of the still missing jumper with my supervisor… Anyway she is very helpful and explained she knew why I was still waiting as the machine they need to use for it is broken. I said not to worry could we fetch it as then I could wash it by hand…! We duly ventured back to the laundry to collect the jumper, only to find more of my clothes in the same pile……! We laughed a lot at this but I thought it was rather strange….. Maria offered to take my things home with her to wash, however I have some pride and could not accept this generous offer as somehow it didn’t seem right for my supervisor to wash my smalls (or in my case not so small smalls!)…!!
When I returned to my apartment (with the armfuls of dirty laundry recovered from the basement) I realised that the cleaner today had taken my bag of laundry (which I was going to take down tomorrow with all my dirty clothes for the week in) was missing, putting 2 & 2 together I can only assume she thought she was being helpful and had seen the bag and taken it to the laundry for me…..!!!!
Net result is that I have decided to make a list of what I send to the laundry so that I can check I get it back again. Fortunately I had been warned not to send anything precious to the laundry and so didn’t bring anything too precious with me!
Maria also wrote me a note today to take with me to the laundry tomorrow as the lady there is typically Andalucian and speaks sooooo fast that even some Spanish people have told me they find her difficult to understand at times, so what chance do I stand…!! So tomorrow another sackful is going to the laundry so let’s see what I get back…!
